Modern Languages

A goal of the French program is to equip students with the ability to communicate and discuss ideas and information in French.

The program will develop skills in the four major components of language learning: speaking, listening, reading and writing. In addition, an integral part of the program will focus on cultural aspects relevant to the French language. This will lead to the natural integration of language learning in subject areas such as art, literature, music, history and geography. A significant portion of the weekly schedule will have students working towards acquiring competency in French. At least 120 minutes per week will be allocated to the learning of French at both the primary and elementary grades.
