Important Sports Day Notice


For the K-3 swim the new Reynold’s Recreation Centre requires that we have at least 15 adults in the water from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with K-3 students. This is a safety requirement by the centre and without the required number of parents K-3 students will not be permitted to swim. To date, we have three parents who have indicated they can help with this, thus at least 12 more are needed. This is a firm requirement due to the age of students in the K-3 classes. Sports Day Schedule

Monday, June 19

Please note venue changes from the last Sunday newsletter

Students wear their gym uniforms for the day, bring swim suits and indoor sneakers for the gym and outdoor sneakers for Victoria Park.



Buses will leave the school at 9:30 to bring students to the Paul Reynold’s Recreation Center ( formerly the Wedgewood Recreation Center)


Gr. K-3            Swim from 10:00 – 11:00 and Gym from 11:00 – 12:00

( 15 adults needed in the water)


Gr 4-6              Gym from 10:00 – 11:00 and Swim from 11:00 – 12:00


Lunch will be on site. Students bring packed lunch and snacks.

Buses leave the Center at 12:30 to bring the students back to school.




Gr 7-9              Buses will leave the school at 9:00 to bring the students to the Summit Recreation Center in Mt. Pearl.

The whole group swims at 9:30 – 10:20 and Gym in the Reid Center from 10:30 – 12:00


Lunch will be on site for all students. Students bring packed lunch and snacks.

Buses leave the Centers at 12:30 to bring the students back to school.





All students walk to Victoria Park for the afternoon activities. Sun screen and hats, warmer coats and layers may be appropriate according to the weather. Let’s hope the weather forecast is accurate! We will also need volunteers for the events at the Park. Please inform Ms. Carroll if you can volunteer for any portion of the day.


Gr. K-6            Races stations in the lower field.

(Parents can volunteer to help distribute the ribbons and snacks.)


Gr. 7-9             Baseball game against each other.


Leave the park at 2:45 for regular dismissal.


Lakecrest Orchestra and Sectionals Concert

Tuesday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m.


On Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., there will be a short orchestral concert featuring some of our orchestra and sectional members. This concert will be attended by the full student body. Parents whose students are performing as well as any others are most welcome to attend. The concert should be about 45 minutes.


Lakecrest Athletic Program Luncheon and Athletic Awards Assembly

Tuesday, June 20, at 12:00 and 1:00 p.m.

On Tuesday, June 20th, at 12:00pm, there will be an Athletic Luncheon for students who participated on any of our school teams this past year. Parents and family members of the athletes are also invited to attend the luncheon and Awards Assembly that will follow the lunch. Both activities will take place in the gym.

Tickets for the Luncheon are $10 each and may be purchased at the office on Monday, June 19 up to 3:30pm. Orders must be placed with the caterer after that time.

The Awards Assembly portion is free of charge and open to the whole Lakecrest community, family and friends. The Assembly will begin at 1:00pm. This will be a full school assembly and all parents are invited.

  • Awards will be given for all Sports programs as well as the Awards for Athletes of the Year
  • Guest Speaker Jeremy Kavanagh from Xtreme Hockeywill give a presentation on our new hockey program for next year. We are really excited about the possibilities of this program! Preliminary registration/interest forms will be available for parents/students.
  • There will also be information regarding all our sports programs for next year.

Year-End Assembly

Wednesday, June 21, at 9:30 a.m.

All students are asked to arrive at the school in full dress uniform on Wednesday, June 21 at the regular time.

At 9:30 a.m. we will begin our Final Assembly. Most grade K-6 student awards will be presented in the classroom during the morning, but some K-6 school wide awards are presented at the assembly. Awards for grade 7-9 students will be presented in classrooms during the morning and other school wide awards will be presented at the final assembly.

After the morning assembly students will return to their homerooms to receive their final reports prior to dismissal at 11:30.

Parents are invited to attend this year end assembly to enjoy the award presentations and reflections on the year’s activities.
