Tuesday – Twin Day (find a friend and dress alike!) (Pancake Day)
Wednesday – Career Day
Thursday – Dress Up Day – the opposite of dress down day – come to school in your finest.

We are looking forward to this week – come on and show us your school spirit
The Student Council
Grades 1, 4 and 7 cross country skiing on Tuesday, Feb 28th.
A reminder that students in grades 4 and 7 will be skiing and snowshoeing for the day on Tuesday at Pippy Park. Also, grade 1 students will have Pippy Park activities for the afternoon. Grade 4 and 7 students will be able to participate in the pancake day activities before they go to Pippy Park.
Students and parents are asked to please return permission slips. These are still available at the school.
Pancake Day – Tuesday, Feb. 28th
On Tuesday, February 28th, Lakecrest students, parents and teachers will start the day with a pancake breakfast from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Lakecrest chefs – our student council members – will be baking and serving pancakes in the cafeteria for all who would like to attend.
Parents can skip breakfast at home on Tuesday and enjoy the Lakecrest Pancake Day event. We have excellent chefs, coffee, juice, and a selection of chocolate chip, plain and other pancakes!!
Student council members are asked to be at Lakecrest at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday to begin preparations for the Pancake Day activities.
Parents/students are asked to please find attached a list of the school uniform pieces which are required daily wear at Lakecrest. K-6 students wear their athletic uniform on days they have PE. Grade 7-9 students wear their academic uniform each day and change as necessary into their athletic uniform. Students from 7-9 who are on our athletic teams and practice in the early morning are also expected to change into their academic uniforms before attending classes.
In recent weeks, we have noticed some students are not regularly wearing regulation school socks and footwear as indicated in the uniform list. Students are not permitted to wear canvas black shoes or black sneakers as part of their academic uniform.
We understand that there may from time to time be a reason why a student is not able to wear the uniform as expected. If so we ask parents to please notify the HR teacher so that we can record that for the student for the day.
Thanks to all parents and students for your cooperation.
Grade 7-9 Parent/Teacher Conferences – March 2
Parent/teacher conferences for grade 7-9 students only will be held on Thursday, March 2. These meetings are optional at the request of the parent, student or teacher. For Grade 7-9 students there will be no afternoon classes on March 2, to provide the opportunity for parents and students to meet with teachers.
Starting on Monday, February 27, grade 7-9 parents are asked to please e-mail Ms. Gillingham (email@example.com) with suggested appointment times. Appointments will be available from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m. on March 7. Please include approximate appointment time requested in your e-mail to Ms. Gillingham.
K-6 classes will continue as usual for the full day.
Grade K-6 Student Led Conferences and Math/Language Arts Reports – March 7 and 9
“Student Led Conferences” are an important part of K-6 student assessment. Student led conferences will take place on Thursday, March 9. A separate report focusing on math and language arts assessment will be provided to students/parents on Tuesday, March 7.
Student led conferences will be on Thursday, March 9, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 5:00-7:00 p.m. During the Student Led Conference sessions child care services will be provided in the cafeteria, for those parents who have more than one child attending K-6. We therefore request that families with more than one K-6 child please attend the conferences individually with each child.
There will be no school for K-6 students in the afternoon on March 9. Grade 7-9 classes will continue as usual.
Starting on Monday, March 6, grade K-6 parents please e-mail Ms. Gillingham to make arrangements for your child’s conference.
All K-6 students will have a Student Led Conference, but for those students who would benefit from a more traditional parent/teacher conference, teachers will contact parents to make those arrangements separately. Parents may also request such a conference at any time.
Lost and Found Table (February 27-March 4)
This week there will be a lost and found table in the front entrance of the school. Parents and/or students who have misplaced items are asked to please check this table this week. The items remaining by Monday, March 6, will be donated to a charity. Thank you.
