"When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight." -- Kahlil Gibran MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR MS. MOUSSEAU A Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Ms. Mousseau is being planned for Thursday, April 14th at 7:00 pm at Lakecrest. This Memorial Service is open to all Alumni, Parents, Friends, Relatives and Students who would like to attend. Further details will be posted on the this site as they become available. THE CHRISTINE MOUSSUEAU BURSARY FUND Dear Parents, As you are aware by now, Lakecrest has lost a wonderful teacher and a dear friend in Ms. Christine Mousseau. You may have noticed in her obituary that was forwarded to you earlier in the day, her family has indicated that those wishing to make donations may direct donations in her memory to the Lakecrest Independent School Bursary Fund, Ms. Mousseau\'s husband, Rick, spoke about how she loved teaching at Lakecrest and what a wonderful school it was for children. He said that she often spoke about how it was unfortunate that some children didn't have the opportunity to attend Lakecrest due to financial constraints. Thus, her family suggested that donations be made in her memory to a bursary fund to assist families with the cost of tuition to enable them the opportunity to attend Lakecrest. With this in mind, we have decided to establish the Ms. Christine Mousseau Bursary Fund, in her memory. Len White Head of School Sandra Chaytor, Q.C. Chair of the Board of Directors PDF Documents: Please leave some comments and kind words below. (Note comments will be approved before being shown) Melanie Guglielmin: I was so lucky to have Chris as a collegue for the three years I taught at Lakecrest. She was a quiet leader in the school - dedicated, talented and passionate. But she also had balance in her life - her dedication to family and her love for the outdoors were evident to all. I know she will be sadly missed. Paula: To Adie and family of Mrs. Mousseau, I was truly saddened when I heard of your loss. I am thinking of you in this difficult time. Though I didn't know her personally, I know her wonderful daughter Adie is surely be a testament to what a beautful mother she must have been. Dean: I will miss seeing you around the school. I am sad I never got a chance to be your student. Kate Saunders: I will miss Chis so very much. She was a great person, full of laughter, caring, and a wonderful spirit. Tim May: Ms. Mousseau was a really great teacher. She would always give her time to students, like myself, who needed help in the science courses she taught. She was one of my favorite teachers during my 10 years at Lakecrest, because she was always there to help you in any way she could. It is a really sad loss to Lakecrest. I don't think she can be replaced by anyone! My thoughts are with the school and to her family members Sue Fagan: To the family of Mrs. Mousseau, we are so saddened by your loss. As a teacher, Mrs. Mousseau was always cherished. I asked the kids tonight, what they remember most about her and they said - "mom, she was always happy and always smiling - she was a lot of fun - we will miss her" I think that says a lot of her impact as a teacher and wonderful mentor of young minds. Our dearest sympathies go out to your family - The Connors. Adam Murdoch: To Rick, Adie, Ang and family, I am so sorry for your loss! Chris was an amazing woman, wife and mother. She will be deeply missed! May you find peace and happiness in the coming time! My thoughts are with you during this time. Take care Kit Roberts: I am so sorry to hear of Chris' passing. I worked with Chris at Lakecrest on The Boulevard and remember her to be a warm and kind hearted teacher and colleague. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this sad time. Joan Hill: Chris was my cousin in Ontario. She moved away a very long tine ago, but never forgot her Ontario family, made sure we all had the privilege of meeting her wonderful girls and visited my aging parents when she came to Ontario. I almost said when she came home, but Newfoundland was home to Chris once she found it and built her life there. Chris was a private person, but showed me, with obvious pride, your school and parts of her life when I was in Newfoundland a few years ago. As always, I wish I had stayed longer, visited more, kept in touch better. Please put a note on your website telling those of us out of province how to donate as your website states the family requests. Love you Chris, Adie and Angelina. Please know you are in my prayers. Joan Jacqueline Redfern: I was deeply saddened to hear about Chris' passing. I had the privilege to work with Chris last year at Lakecrest. She was a dedicated and outstanding teacher who has left us with some wonderful memories.Peaceful thoughts for Chris, her family and the school. Wendy Murdoch: I knew Chris for 45 years. We grew up in neighbouring communities and Chris and my sister Shirley (who passed away last November) were very close friends, especially throughout high school. The years went by and of course everyone went about the business of growing up and exploring life. Years later our paths crossed again in Newfoundland. Imagine our surprise when we came to realize that we all lived just a few miles from each other and Shirley was a colleague of Rick's! Over the next 20 plus years we watched our children play together, shared holidays and so many other special moments. Life brings us so many gifts. Chris was a gift to all of us. Chris was, for me the kindest, most thoughtful, loving and peaceful woman I have ever known. I will cherish my memories of our time together and hold her close to my heart forever. To Rick, Angelina and Adie, I am so deeply sorry for you loss. I love you. To the students and staff of Lakecrest thank you for remembering Chris in such a loving and thoughtful way. Linda Marchand-Quenneville: I am Chris's cousin from Ont.When ever Chris came home we usually had a brief visit. My mother & Chris's Late mother Lillian were sisters & they always kept us informed what was happening in NFLD. Angelina & Adie you were loved by your Parents & Grandparents very much & especially Uncle Tim & Aunt Cindy. Christine is a terrible loss to our family. We will keep all of you in our prayers & never forget you Sincerely Linda & Marvin Quenneville Mary Ellen Marchand: I am Chris' and her brother Tims cousin in Vancouver. Unfortunately for me, I haven't seen Chris in years however, would be filled in by my parents in Ontario when she visited them. Her visits with Adie and Angelina meant alot to her Aunt Alice and Uncle Maurice, not sure she knew how much. Her parents Aunt Lily and Uncle Max raised two very Kind, loving children. I am very, very sorry for your loss Rick, Tim, Adie and Angelina. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. Sincerely, Mary Ellen Marchand Jolene Dean : Adie and family, I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. I did have the opportunity to meet your Mom at a professional development session a few years ago. And what a wonderful, bright lady she was. It made complete sense when I found out that day that she was your Mom, Adie. I know there are no words that can make this easier for your family. But please know that you are in my thoughts. My deepest condolences, Jolene Dean Elise Jamieson: I am really sad I didn't get Ms Mousseau as a homeroom teacher but at least I got her as a French teacher. I remember the time Ian fell asleep and she woke him up kindly and didn't get mad or anything. She really was great! Tina Burton: Our sincere condolences to the Mousseau family. Ms. Mousseau taught both Luke and Zack and they will remember her fondly. She was a great inspiration to Luke in science particularly around the science fair. She will be sadly missed. The Burtons Christine (Gough) Avery: I was so saddened to hear of the tragic loss of Chris Mousseau. I worked with Chris during my 5 years at Lakecrest and found her to be a kind, dedicated, wonderful teacher who always had a smile on her face, and brought her humour to the classroom, and the staffroom everyday. I remember her telling me one day that while she was teaching a science lab she told the kids they had to shake a bottle with chemicals in it to make a solution. One of the kids asked her how hard they should shake it, and with that Chris immediately started to sing "shake it, shake it, shake it like a polaroid picture!" which was the main line from a song that was popular at the time. Whenever I hear that song I think of her, and the laugh we had at her singing that to the kids. Chris was one in a million and I wish her family, students, and the staff at Lakecrest my deepest sympathy.Although we are all deeply saddened by her passing, I can't help but picture Chris smiling down at us with that big smile she always had.She was an inspiration to us all, and she will sadly be missed. Emma Ornholt: Ms. Mousseau was a truly lovely woman. I was at Lakecrest when she first began teaching at our little school. She was instantly liked by the students and was well respected for her teaching skills. Her former pupils are incredibly saddened to hear the news of her passing. I am glad that this webpage has given so many the opportunity reflect fondly upon our missed teacher. Helmien Engelbrecht: I have never seen Ms. Mousseau without a smile. Her love for teaching, students, nature and life was evident. I am thankful that my children Zame, Reniel and Cara had the privilege of being her students. We'll miss her. Our deepest sympathy to her family, friends and colleagues. Bren Murphy: Speaking as a parent, we were fortunate to have Chris teach our daughter Sarah and to guide her. Speaking as a parent member of the Board, there were times when we saught Chris's input on various school matters and she never failed to impress us with clear logic and plain old good advice. We were blessed to have someone like her for so many years. Sarah Woodworth: I was very surprised to hear of Madame Mousseau's passing. My twin sister Jessica and I had her as a French Immersion teacher while attending Holy Redeemer in Spaniard's Bay. She was always a pleasure and one of our favourite teachers by far. |
