Community Service

Lakecrest has a program of service with the local community. Student council sponsored service activities include a snowsuit drive, Christmas hampers, support for needed gift purchases for single parent families at Christmas time, and regular provision of food for a local “soup kitchen”.

Lakecrest students participate in national fundraising campaigns such as the Terry Fox Foundation. Student initiatives to provide service are supported by faculty.  Also junior high students travel to ‘We Day’ in Halifax and conduct a visit to St. Pierre et Miquelon and Europe. These activities promote understanding and citizenship at the local, national and global level.

Lakecrest students also provide support for students in other countries through their ongoing support of KIVA, purchase of goats for needy families in Africa, donations for a girls’ school in Afghanistan, and contributions to other one-time relief funds for areas during times of crisis.
